Editorial Standards

Who writes this

Our articles are written and/or reviewed by people on the Tectonic team. When we bring in outside writers or research tools to help draft a piece, someone on our team still reviews it, edits it, and signs off before it goes live. Nothing publishes untouched.

What we're accurate about, and what we're not

We write from experience, including how a design-build process runs, what tends to go wrong on remodels, and what materials perform well in Colorado's climate. Where we cite outside sources, like building codes, industry research, or manufacturer specs, we link to them so you can check the original.

Building codes, permitting timelines, and material costs change, and they vary by jurisdiction. Nothing on this site is a substitute for a code check or quote specific to your address, your lot, or your project. If a number or requirement matters to your decision, confirm it with us directly before you rely on it.

Corrections

If something's wrong, we want to know. If you spot an error, tell us and we'll look into it and fix it. Please email hello@tectonicbuilds.com.

Projects and photography

Photos of client homes are used with permission. We don't publish project details, addresses, or images without the homeowner's okay, and we're careful about what identifying information goes out with a project feature.

Keeping things current

We revisit older posts periodically and update or retire anything that's gone stale. Publish dates and any "last updated" notes reflect when a piece was last reviewed, not just when it first went up.
