For this young Boulder family with two energetic boys, home is the center of everything. The kitchen, especially, had become the daily hub: homework at the counter, quick breakfasts before school, and easy gatherings with friends and neighbors. As they began planning their Old North Boulder home renovation, they envisioned a space that felt timeless yet refreshed; elevated, but still welcoming and livable.
We leaned into a transitional aesthetic that honored the home’s existing character while introducing refined updates. Rich walnut accents brought warmth and depth, grounding the design with natural texture. Polished nickel finishes added a subtle sophistication, balancing tradition and modernity.
In the bathrooms, a crisp white and blue palette created a sense of calm continuity throughout the home. Every material and finish was selected to reflect the family’s style–classic, tailored, and built to last–while ensuring the spaces felt approachable for everyday life.
Bringing this Boulder home remodel to life required a comprehensive transformation. Four bathrooms were fully gutted and rebuilt, allowing us to improve layout, functionality, and flow from the inside out.
The primary suite became a true retreat. The reimagined bath now features a double vanity, dedicated makeup station, freestanding tub, steam shower, and a custom-built sauna, blending spa-like luxury with practical daily use. Downstairs, we crafted a basement sauna and stylish minibar, adding thoughtful spaces for relaxation and entertaining.
In the kitchen, extending the island created a more balanced layout and generous gathering space, improving circulation while reinforcing its role as the heart of the home. The result is a cohesive Boulder home renovation that feels polished yet personal, designed to grow with this family for years to come.
