This project began with a bold vision: transform a dated Southwest-style exterior in Winding Trail into a contemporary home that felt clean, intentional, and distinctly Boulder. As part of this Boulder home renovation, our clients wanted to move away from heavy, traditional detailing and toward something lighter and more architectural.
Together, we reimagined the exterior through the lens of modern simplicity. Clean lines and a light, neutral palette created a fresh foundation, while bold black accents added contrast and definition. The goal was balance: something striking, but not stark.
To ground the design in Colorado’s natural landscape, we layered materials with purpose. Stone, stucco, and wood were thoughtfully integrated to bring warmth and depth, ensuring the home felt textured and inviting rather than flat or overly minimal. The result was a design that feels contemporary, yet timeless within its Boulder setting.

Executing this Boulder remodel required a full exterior transformation. The home was taken down to its core elements and rebuilt with intention, including a new roof, updated siding, fresh stonework, stucco, and a custom pergola that enhances both structure and shade.
Windows and doors were replaced to improve efficiency and align with the refined aesthetic, while decks were rebuilt to strengthen the connection between indoor and outdoor living. Each component was selected not only for visual impact but for durability in Colorado’s shifting seasons.
One of the most impactful changes was reshaping the angular atrium with a new flat roof, allowing it to harmonize with the home’s updated architecture. This thoughtful structural adjustment unified the overall composition and reinforced the clean, contemporary lines.
