Boulder Home Renovation

Edgewood House, Old North Boulder

At Tectonic, a custom home renovation is more than an upgrade. It’s an opportunity to reimagine how your home supports the life you want to live.

Whether you're remodeling a single room or your entire home, we take the same thoughtful approach as our custom builds, blending design, craftsmanship, and sustainability to create spaces that truly reflect you.

  • This Boulder family came to us with one clear priority: create a home that could grow with them. As their family expanded, so did their need for a more functional and welcoming gathering space; naturally, the kitchen became the heart of this Boulder home remodel.

We leaned into a casual, contemporary aesthetic that feels approachable yet refined. The design centered around thoughtful, hardworking details that support everyday life. A bespoke coffee bar created a dedicated ritual space for busy mornings, while an internal lift stand for a KitchenAid mixer kept countertops clear without sacrificing convenience. A glass riser and custom cabinetry inserts brought both personality and precision to the layout.

Every storage solution was intentional. From specialized inserts to maximize organization to cabinetry designed for seamless flow, the kitchen now supports everything from weeknight dinners to full-family gatherings, blending beauty and efficiency in equal measure.

  • Opening up the main level was essential to achieving the light, storage, and connectivity the family needed. As part of our design build Boulder approach, we reworked the structure to dramatically improve flow while maintaining the integrity of the home.

Several walls were removed, and a 30-foot structural beam was installed to create the expansive, open-concept layout. This critical structural addition allowed the kitchen, dining, and living spaces to function as one cohesive environment: brighter, more breathable, and better suited for family life.

A custom stair railing (a task right in Tectonic’s born-and-bred-for-construction wheelhouse) was crafted and installed to complement the updated interior, adding architectural character while preserving openness. Finally, custom cabinetry, designed and executed by our in-house team, brought the entire vision together.

The result is a Boulder home remodel that feels lighter, more connected, and intentionally designed for a growing family, a home that works as beautifully as it welcomes.
