Lafayette Main Floor Remodel

At Tectonic, a custom home renovation is more than an upgrade. It’s an opportunity to reimagine how your home supports the life you want to live.

Whether you're remodeling a single room or your entire home, we take the same thoughtful approach as our custom builds, blending design, craftsmanship, and sustainability to create spaces that truly reflect you.

  • Like many older homes, this one in Lafayette suffered from a floorplan that interrupted flow and made everyday living feel tighter than it needed to be, especially in the kitchen. Our clients came to us ready for change, hoping to reimagine their space in a way that felt open, intentional, and reflective of their style. This Boulder home renovation began with improving function, but quickly evolved into something more expressive.

Together, we leaned into a Mid-Century Modern direction, blending clean lines with warmth and personality. Playful blue tiles added character and movement, while richer wood tones grounded the space. Modern fixtures brought clarity and cohesion, helping each room feel thoughtfully connected.

The goal was harmony between old and new, bold and understated, playful and practical. The result is a design that feels fresh yet timeless, honoring the home’s bones while giving it renewed energy.

  • To bring this Boulder renovation to life, we began by expanding the kitchen footprint and improving circulation. Enlarged windows invite in more natural light, creating a brighter, airier environment that completely shifts the feel of the main level.

A custom window nook was added at the entryway, carving out a cozy moment within the open layout: a place to pause, read, or simply enjoy the light. In the living area, the fireplace was transformed into a sleek architectural focal point, complemented by a custom oak banister that adds warmth and craftsmanship to the stairway.

To tie everything together, the floors were refinished for added richness, and the original kitchen appliances were thoughtfully upcycled in alignment with our sustainability values. This Boulder home renovation proves that with strategic layout changes and intentional design, a once-cramped home can feel spacious, vibrant, and entirely renewed.
