Wonderland Hills House Remodel

At Tectonic, a custom home renovation is more than an upgrade. It’s an opportunity to reimagine how your home supports the life you want to live.

Whether you're remodeling a single room or your entire home, we take the same thoughtful approach as our custom builds, blending design, craftsmanship, and sustainability to create spaces that truly reflect you.

  • This North Boulder home renovation focused on transforming a kitchen and two bathrooms that no longer worked for the way the homeowners lived. While the house had generous square footage, the layout felt disjointed and inefficient, especially in the kitchen.

The existing kitchen occupied less than half of the available space and was surrounded by two separate dining areas placed awkwardly next to each other. A bulky, unnecessary bar divided the room, interrupting flow and wasting valuable square footage. The result was a home that felt more cramped than it actually was.

Our clients gravitated toward a clean, minimal aesthetic: crisp whites paired with black and soft blue accents. They wanted simplicity, clarity, and cohesion. With that direction in mind, we reimagined the kitchen as a streamlined, highly functional space, eliminating excess dining areas and replacing visual clutter with intentional seating and integrated storage.

The bathrooms, while maintaining their original footprints, were refreshed to align with this modern palette. Outdated finishes were replaced with refined materials that feel bright, calm, and timeless.

  • The biggest transformation in this Boulder renovation happened in the kitchen. By removing unnecessary barriers and reclaiming underutilized dining space, we expanded the kitchen’s footprint and dramatically improved flow. What once felt cramped now feels open and purposeful.

The awkward central bar was eliminated, and the cabinetry, previously dated and visually heavy, was replaced with streamlined, modern millwork. A dedicated seating area for the kids creates casual gathering space without the need for multiple full dining tables, while the primary dining area now feels intentional rather than redundant.

In the bathrooms, we focused on thoughtful updates rather than structural changes. New finishes, fixtures, and surfaces elevated the spaces while maintaining efficiency within the existing layout.

The result is a clean, cohesive Boulder home renovation that proves thoughtful reconfiguration can make a home feel entirely new… without adding a single square foot.
